The regular discussion series on the topic “Bulgaria after Chernobyl” started in January 2025. The idea of this seminar is to publicise the latest discoveries made by our team of researchers, whose goal it is to shed light on the “(mis)management” and consequences of the Chernobyl disaster in Bulgaria.

The seminar is co-organised by the Centre for Advanced Study Sofia (https://cas.bg/en/) and the Institute for Studies of the Recent Past (https://minaloto.bg/gb/).

The 12th seminar will take place on 02 December 2025, Tuesday, at 17:00 at the Centre for Advanced Study Sofia.

The Transformations of Chernobyl Media Coverage

Stoyko Petkov is a media researcher and Associate Professor at the Media and Communication Department of the New Bulgarian University. His research interests include audiovisual production and the impact of technological transformations on content. He is the author of the monographs Audio-Vision: Production, Distribution, Display and The Creative Triangle: Producer, Screenwriter, Director, as well as a number of publications in specialized journals.
