The project aims at discerning the ‘propaganda effect' of directing social anxiety, of ‘wrapping it up' in simple repetitive figures which turn anxiety into fear thus establishing pathways of rendering society governable through its expectations. The transformation of diffuse anxiety into fear, that is, into objectified threats, is a rational strategy for social and behavioural control.

To achieve the project's objectives, a selective strategy is needed: Mass-media communicated threats directing the expectations of the common future and fate will be studied together with their perception and (re)interpretation by the public.
