Stefan Peychev is a historian of the Ottoman Empire, its successor states, and the wider world, with research and teaching interests in environmental history, urban history, travel and cultural encounter, history of science, and global history. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and has taught at the University of Illinois and Boston College.
He is the author of The Nature of the Ottoman City: Water and Urban Space in Sofia, 1380s-1910s (Cambridge University Press, 2024).
