His research interests revolve around the cultural, religious, and imperial vicissitudes of late medieval and early modern Spain. Carlos&#8217;s most recent book is <em>La espiritualidad cristiana en la Espa\u00f1a del siglo XV: entre corte y monasterio<\/em> (Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, 2020).<br \/>\nIn recent years, Carlos has co-edited the collective volume <em>Tracing the Oral in Hispanic Literatures for the Bulletin on Hispanic Studies<\/em> (2019), and he has made invited contributions to <em>Religions<\/em> (&#8220;The Moral Dimensions of Sufism and the Iberian Mystical Canon&#8221;, 2020) and to <em>Araucaria<\/em> (&#8220;\u00c1lvar N\u00fa\u00f1ez Cabeza de Vaca\u2019s Castaways (1542): Spain and the Dawn of International Law&#8221;, 2021).<\/p>\n<p>Carlos is a member of an international teams of scholars funded by the Government of Spain&#8217;s Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovaci\u00f3n to develop a collective project titled <em>The Rise of the Republic of Letters in Medieval and Renaissance Spain<\/em>.
