He subsequently held a Lady Davis Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem during the 2018\u20132019 academic year. His research is situated at the intersection of early modern and modern Mediterranean socioeconomic history with particular attention to Ottoman lands. It focuses on themes such as rural and urban property, urban identities, religious endowments, Jewish communities, intercommunal relations, capital accumulation, practices of giving, elite formation, land use, peasant indebtedness, and legal cultures. He served as the coordinator of the T\u00dcB\u0130TAK-funded research project titled \u201cHouse Prices and Urban Wealth Inequality in the Ottoman Empire, 1600\u20131913,\u201d which he completed in 2024. His current research projects include Jewish Families in the Ottoman Middle East, Elite Formation in the Ottoman Empire, and The Urban Environment of Ottoman Port Cities.
